Escaping the "Hampster Wheel"
Growing up in a country full of corruption, scandal, war and a completely broken political system based on greed, it's hard to affiliate myself with a political party and the capitalistic society they both represent. My views are torn, you see. While I believe in socialism, I find it hard to free myself from the hampster wheel with the Dollar hanging in front of it. I work at a restaurant as a busser. My tips are based on how good of a job I do. Some of the servers don't tip very well and that can be frustrating. My managers mentioned that the company was toying around with the "Tip Sharing" meathod, (all tips are pooled together and equally distributed). This is a small example of Socialism, and where my conflict lies. While i do believe in helping everyone equally, I also believe that those who "go the extra mile" should be rewarded a bit more. So ther in lies my conflict. Being raised poor and told by society that I can have anything I want has lead me to homelessness at age 23 and Chapter 7 at age 24. Of course that's due to my town mistakes. Education is a terrorfying luxury to take when one is "just" making ends meet to survive. However; I have decided to gamble with it. I will keep this blog alive during my schooling and document the experience of sruggling to survive while trying to escape the hampster wheel.
